Lisa Newcomb, Yoga with a Flow, Afro-Caribbean Dance, Song, Rhythm & Dance
Lisa Newcomb, founder and director of the Belfast Dance Studio since 1985. Lisa teaches dance and yoga to children and adults. She has been teaching and studying different forms of African and Caribbean dance for the past 20 years, and has traveled throughout the United States, South America and Africa studying and dancing. She brings these forms of dance to her teachings with both children and adults. Lisa also teaches dance and movement in public and private schools throughout Maine.
Jeffrey Densmore, Percussionist, Vocalist, Set Drummer, and Musical Director at the Belfast Dance Studio
Jeffrey Densmore has been drumming for performances and dance classes at the Belfast Dance Studio for over 15 years. He has studied drum set and hand drumming extensively in Maine, New York City, and Guinea, West Africa. Jeff is a teacher of rhythm, working with adults and children in private and group settings. For the past 25 years he has performed with musical groups in the central Maine area in a variety of genres including rock, jazz, country, funk, swing, drum ensembles and vocal groups.
Keith Robinson, Ballet
Keith Robinson has been teaching Intro to Dance and ballet at the Belfast Dance Studio for over 20 years.He danced professionally with the "Ballet Classique de Paris" in France and "Balletto Athenon" in Athens, Greece.
Keith is currently an artistic director for the Robinson Ballet and teaches ballet at the University of Maine in Orono.
Missy Hatch, Yoga
Missy Hatch has been teaching yoga for almost 18 years. She was originally trained at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health and has since studied with many teachers over the years continuing her own understanding and incorporation of yoga. Yoga is a personal journey for her that she loves to share.
Sensei Leo H. Mazerall Jr., Karate
Sensei Leo Mazerall Jr. is the head instructor at the Belfast Branch of Tracy's Institute Of Self Defense headquartered in Ellsworth, Maine. He has been involved in the Martial Arts for over 20 years and still continues his own studies at the Ellsworth dojo under Senseis Dennis and Karen Tracy. He recently tested and was promoted to seventh degree Black Belt (Shichidan) in 2006.
Courtney Porter, Ballroom Dance
Courtney Porter, certified by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, has been teaching Ballroom at the Belfast Dance Studio since January 2003. She and her students will be performing for the Crosby Alumni Association's annual reunion on August 12 at the Belfast Area High School.
Helena Melone, Belly Dance & Flamenco
Helena Melone holds an MA in Dance as a Healing Art from Lesley University and is the belly dance and flamenco teacher at Phillips Exeter Academy. She has performed and taught throughout the eastern seaboard, from Maine to Florida, as well as New Mexico, where she was interviewed by Oprah magazine for her knowledge of flamenco. Shana Bloomstein, Hip Hop Fusion & African Inspired Dance
Shana grew up in Freedom, Maine, and discovered her love of dance at Forest Friends Nursery School with Lisa Newcomb as her first teacher! She has studied dance throughout Maine, at Hampshire College, and in New York City and Senegal, West Africa. Her experience and knowledge as a yoga instructor, massage therapist, and physical therapy assistant provide important tools for creating a safe environment in which to learn.
Korinn Scattoloni, Zumba® Fitness
Korinn Scattoloni has assisted adults and children in midcoast Maine for years in achieving their fitness, dance, and personal goals. Bringing over two decades of teaching and professional experience to her clients, Korinn draws on her varied ensemble and solo work, as well as extensive training in ballet, modern, jazz, and other creative dance traditions and disciplines.
Garrett Vail, Friday Morning Yoga
Garrett Vail, RYT, has been practicing yoga daily for eight years, and teaches Friday and Saturday mornings at BDS. Certified as a Kripalu yoga teacher in 2008, Garrett takes a balanced approach to the question of yoga as spiritual practice versus yoga as exercise. "Yoga is big enough to suit everyone's needs, and the most beautiful thing about it is the longer you practice the more your yoga will change right along with you." Expect rigor in Garrett's class, but also a focus on moment-to-moment awareness of the body, with the ultimate practice of stilling the mind.
Jessica Day, Music Together®
Jessica Day, Director and teacher of Midcoast Music Together (MMT), first came to Music Together¨ in 2008 through her pursuit to share her love of music with her own children. She believes music is one of the greatest gifts a parent can give a child and that music creates a strong foundation for all other learning. She received a B.F.A. in Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design and is near complete an M.F.A. in Art Education from Boston University. Jessica is passionate about music, teaching and the development of children. She creates a fun, informal, social setting that spurs engagement and supports each child's musical development.
Marcie Bronstein, Saturday Morning Yoga;
Marcie Jan Bronstein is a visual artist who has had a daily yoga practice for more than ten years. During that time, she studied with many fine yogis, but it was her meeting and subsequent study with Diane Long - Vanda Scaravelli’s student for 23 years - which most profoundly shifted her orientation to yoga practice and teaching. Supported by a soulful soundtrack of classical and world music, classes are based on moving with a sense of ease and "undoing" in order to free the spine’s powerful natural flexibility. Moving this way allows us to develop a sensitivity and awareness of the body, so the body becomes an intelligent and harmonious whole in relation to its environment. Marcie’s classes, infused with a deep love for the fluid, creative world of yoga, are open to everyone.

Mary O'Herin,Lic.Ac., Fire Mapping;
Mary O'Herin has 13 years of Japanese Acupuncture studies (now in the 2nd year of a 5+ year apprenticeship in Kototama Medicine), and 12 years of Archetypal Astrology studies including 1 year with Vicki Noble at Motherpeace Institute and 4 years with Arifa Boehler. She is Mom to two boys and has practiced Yoga for 20 years.
Katie Tranzillo, Swing and Lindy Hop;
Since her first tap class at age 4, Katie has enjoyed and studied dance, music, yoga and movement arts. She has studied many styles of wing dance with master teachers all over the country. Teaching swing since 2000, her classes focus on technique, styling, expressing music through movement, and having fun.
Lily Goodale, Kundalini Yoga;
Lily has been practicing yoga for fourteen years and continues to deepen her understanding of yoga by attending a variety of yoga classes, teachings and styles. To date she has completed numerous trainings, including training for Anusara yoga, and "Yoga for Youth", a Kundalini based program that supports juveniles awaiting arraignment or incarceration. She is a Kundalini Registered Level 1 instructor, a registered yoga instructor with The Yoga Alliance of America, a certified Montessori teacher and a certified "YogaEd" instructor.
Judi Erickson, Zumba® Gold;
Judi Erickson is moved by music every day! Her background includes theatrical dance and movement, Latin and Standard ballroom, rock 'n roll line dance, and baladi (belly dance). Certified dance instructor in both Zumba® Gold and Let Your Yoga Dance, Judi has taught in and around Maine for the last 5 years. She's eager to share her passion for Zumba® Gold with all interested "shakers and movers".
